What is Bluejacking Technology?

Introduction

1. BLUEJACKING is the sending of unwanted messages over Bluetooth – enabled devices.

2. Bluejacking do not remove or alter any data from the device. 

3. The person who is being attacked  does not know any information about the hacker except the name assigned to the hacker’s phone.

History

1. This bluejack phenomena started after a Malaysian IT consultant named “AJACK” posted a comment on a mobile forum.

2. Ajack told IT web that he used his Ericsson cell phone in a bank to send a message with Nokia 7650.

3. Ajack did a Bluetooth discovery to see if there was another Bluetooth device around. Discovering a Nokia 7650 in the  vicinity, he created a new contact and filled in the first name with ‘Buy Ericsson!’ and send a business card to the Nokia phone.

Bluetooth

1. Wireless networking standard created for personal networks (PANs).

2. Has a very limited range.

3. Easy way to send data.

vCARD

1. Electronic business card.

2. Identified by their .vcf filename extensions.

3. Designed to support multiple languages.

OBEX protocol

1. It is the heart of file transfer over Bluetooth.

2. It is a session layer protocol.

3. Optimized for ad-hoc wireless links.

Requirements

1. A  BLUETOOTH enabled cell phone.

2. A place with lot of people having their BLUETOOTH device switched on.

HOW TO BLUEJACK?

1. Your phone or PDA will start to search the airwaves for other devices within range.

2. If you are lucky you will see a list of them appear, or it will say that it cannot find any.

3. If the latter happens then relocate to another crowd or wait a while and try again.

4. If you have a list of found devices then let the fun begin.

Code Of Ethics

1. Do not hack any device.

2. Do not send abusive messages.

3. Do not threaten anyone .

4. Do not put your personal information in a BlueJack message.

Preventions

1. Turn off BLUETOOTH device until when not in use.

2. See the BLUETOOTH device to HIDDEN  mode.

Conclusion

1. BLUEJACKING is a technique by which we can interact with a new person and can bring a great change in the world advertisement by sending about the products, enterprises etc. on Bluetooth.

2. So we conclude that in future this technology becomes the key for advertisement to interact with the world.
